twisted priorities

had the weirdest dream last night. hubs and i agreed that we both would find partners to romp with. one day he comes with a chick - big hair, short tight skirt, legs to her armpits .. you get the drift.

anyways, i was coming out of starbucks and had just lit my last cigarette, when we bumped into each other. (she was with him) we said hi then i passed her my coffee and smoke and said that i needed to use the restroom.

when i came back out, she said she finished my stick and drank my coffee. i hit the roof! who did this *itch think she is for drinking my starbucks and smoking my marlboro! it's one thing to bang my man but it's another to take my smokes and joe. she crossed the line. THE LINE!!!

i woke up angry. i mean i was seriously pissed off. then i shared the dream w hubs and he was like "good to know your priorities. does that mean i can go find a woman."

sure hon, in YOUR dreams.

theory of relativity part 2

hubs : you're putting on weight

me : what!

hubs : yeah, getting bigger

this upset-ed me for a few weeks then it hit me, i'm not getting fatter. HE is losing weight!! so relatively, i have become bigger.

i've since called him out on this which he agrees, nonchalantly.

the all amazing smart phone

it's official, i am now an iphone user. after a 1 month trial with his old phone, this weekend, he presented me with my very own device as an anniversary gift. it upset him that i was not as enthused as he hoped i'd be. that's coz i felt he was trying to shove technology down my throat and i was just not ready for it. but all's good now.

i went out to get my mirco-sim card. updated my data plan. and tah dah ... i now can do face time. but the only thoughts in my head are "i need to find a good angle to hold the phone so that i look good". i toggle between that and "should i wear make-up for this?". whattttt ....

Anyhoo ... hubs warns ... "now this is a smart phone so it will use up more battery than the normal phone. don't be surprised coz last time you only needed to charge your phone once every 3 days. now you need to charge your phone every day."

me : so it's not that smart after all

hubs : it's a phone which is rich in applications that's why it uses so much battery. like a wife.

me : hmmm, like a husband too.

hubs : no, husbands don't have so many apps. just eat, sleep and make the wife pregnant. wives have to cook, clean, look after kids .... many apps.

does he not deserve death by application? i'm sure i can apply myself that way too.

the fat and thin of things

hubs was talking to the young'uns about being fat and thin.

he said regardless of your size, you need to be confident to carry off your look. and you should accept "what" you are. there is no such thing as chubby or pudgy. if you are fat then just acknowledge the fact that you ARE fat and work around it (if you don't plan to do anything abt it). most of all, you should embrace it and be comfortable in your skin and work it! more often than not, people will not notice the fat (or thin) and they won't dwell on it - macam he knows what being fat is all about.

but i digress ... so it was very engaging discussion. the kids were chipping in their take on the topic when hubs turns and points at me :

hubs : look at mummy. is she thin or fat.

MB : she's thin ....

me : *i smile*

MB : .... until she sits down. then she's fat.

NOTE TO SELF - don't EVER sit down for fear of that mid-section hamburger effect!! or i could do something about it. or i may just need to be comfortable in my skin and have that chocolate covered donut that i've been craving for.

the man

why did i choose him? he is my light and my darkness. keeps me sane yet is the cause of my insanity. he's created a pop-up book of surprises with each flip of my book of life. he brought me out of the comfort of my black and white world. he's a 3-d experience. a multi-sensory engagement. and he's mine to keep.

passion

The relationship between two Scorpio individuals is a bitter-sweet one. This love match is bound to have lots of intensity, as neither the individuals is prone to enter into a relationship with shallow feelings. There will be lots and lots of romance in this zodiac match and it could easily result in long-term commitment and marriage. Both of them are extremely passionate about everything in their life and this includes their partner too.

There may be stormy fights every now and then, but then, the reunions will be just as sizzling too. The love of a Scorpio has as much ardor as his/ her hate. He/ she cannot simply love or hate. He/ she has to love passionate and hate fiercely. The relationship between two Scorpios will either be profoundly fulfilling or extremely devastating. There is no middle ground for these individuals.

Their chemistry will be totally endearing and their union will comprise of strong feelings, desires and emotions. Neither of them is satisfied with moderation in anything, they need to feel extreme emotions all the time. They will love each other, protect each other and fight for each other.

need i say more :)

call it extreme loving but i won't have it any other way. he lights my fire in so many ways. he brings colour and life into my world. together, we are electric. we may have our down-times but the journey back to "us" is always something i look forward to.

NB : ok i cheated w this post and copied off a zodiac compatibility link. i just needed a day's break. all i can say is that it's all true.

LOVE

we're both strong headed events people with different ideas and lots of opinions. so it took me by surprise when we were planning for our wedding, that we were right in stride. which was great coz we had a shoe-string wedding, with absolutely no savings.

our budget was "we'll take anything ... cheap" .... and our mantra was "it still has to look tasteful, the music impeccable, the essence unforgettable". we love a good challenge.

i have to say we scored on all three. we had a beach party, in the sunset with good food and the best company.

as usual, i'm digressing.

so back to having a cost effective wedding, we decided to bank on resources at hand and music to create the look and feel that we wanted for our merry making. we were big on making our wedding different. i was in charge of aesthetics, he was in charge of music. and when we presented our ideas to each other (yes, we are anal that way), there were no arguments ... we didn't have to sell any concepts. we were right in sync.

he loved my idea to include various framed wedding pictures of family and friends to decorate our registration table. it was a beautiful and personal gesture. all the couples, close to our lives, lending photos of their wedding day ... the most happiest day of their lives, to us as we celebrate ours.

one of his ideas was that we would not walk-in to the wedding march but to john lennon's LOVE. when he said that i was like YES! brilliant idea. meaningful lyrics, lovely melody, perfect pace.

ever heard the song or read the lyrics to LOVE? i did an earlier post on this. it's so simple and real.

we walked out to U2's Beautiful Day. and it really was :)

bun in the oven

we both came into the relationship w baggage. mine bigger than his. we were drawn, both wanting to save and fix each other from our lives as we knew it. to save the underdog ... it's the scorpio curse .

when we found that we were pregnant w AG we were so confused and elated at the same time. we sat together at the foot of the bed, looked deep into our souls and knew AG was for keeps.

we were not sure we wanted to marry and spend the rest of our lives together, but we knew we wanted her. it did not matter to us that we were about to become back-fence gossip, we just knew we had to have her. that moment, we agreed to take life, one day at a time and embrace each moment .... together.

with each person we told, we received only love and support. we only felt love. from all around us. only love.

from the humble bun to a full bakery, i dare say that if we had to, we'd do this all over again.

with all my heart and Sol

7 days to valentine's. this year, i thot i'd do a 7-day post of the experiences that make us ... US. for the heck of it. bear with me. if you start to cringe, you may walk away for a breather. but come back ok :)

i have recently been feeling rather romantic in a sentimental and soppy way, much to my annoyance. i like to think i'm not a romantic ... but in all honesty (and i do think it has a lot to do with my 4 pregnancies, and all the hormones messing me up) i'm finally becoming a girl.

so here's the first installment :

i've known hubs for some 7 some years before our first non-date. it was a meet up over beers at a kooky joint near his office. i wanted coronas but it was not on the menu. so he ordered us some Sol ... which is like a corona ... but not.

after 3 beers and lots of talking, something clicked. we met several times after that, always ordering beer to loosen our nerves (alcohol dates are the way to go, if you ask me) anyway, this beer thing carried on for 4ish years into our marriage.

then one day, while sipping into his iced cold frothy glass, he says to me," you know hon, i don't really like beer. i only drank it coz you did, that first time." to which i said, "neither do i, i'm more of a whiskey coke/ tequila neat kinda chick. i drank it coz YOU ordered it."

it dawned on us that we both have been growing a beer gut for nothing. well not really for nothing. we blame the gut on love. we were being self-sacrificing alcoholics.

anyways, it was like "hello stranger!". like a mr & mrs smith moment where they both came into a realisation that their lives w each other had been a huge lie. ok ok, not so dramatic ... but you get what i mean.

we now have the occasional beer and chuckle when we reminisce about this little story. A story we lovingly refer to as 3 beers.

china bathhouse *tho the pic is really japanese ... shhhh*

wondering why i haven't been blogging? truth is i have no time. REALLY. 4 kids + hubs not in singapore for a month + mom staying with me FOR A MONTH + i've got a 8:30 - 7pm job + i wake at 5:00am only to sleep at midnight + i wake up everynight to feed the baby twice (once at 2am and again at 5am) and i haven't had my jollies in a while so i've been grumpy .... hmmmm, i really should work blogging into my schedule.

and i have. yes this blogger is a trooper. a SUPER TROOPER .... *resisting the urge to break out in song*.

so hubs is on a tour of countries for a series of events. he left on 8 nov for mumbai, india then phuket, thailand then tokyo, japan then seoul, korea NOW in beijing, china *home for 3 days next week... what a bloody tease* then kuala lumpur, malaysia and lastly sydney, australia. PHEW! officially back on 6 dec.

bu has been missing hubs and today he asked if we could call him. so i texted him to see if it's ok for me to call. he said yeah and so we did.

bu : dada, where are you?

hubs : beijing china

bu : what? bathing in china!

hubs : nooooo, i'm in china

*blah, blah .... i miss you, come back soon .... and they hang up* i look at him and the boy has his palms cupping his little scrunged up face with furrowed brows. so i ask ..

me : what's wrong bu?

bu : i just don't understand why dada has to take a bath in china. we have a bathroom too. can't he bath here!

setting phasers to stun ... and other nerdball conversations

mom's in bangkok now, celebrating her bday. it's possibly the last holiday i pay for her before the baby and new house comes. anyways, last night, i was experiencing major contractions. i swear i thought i was going to give birth!

me : so what happens if my water breaks tonight. who's going to look after the kids?
hubs : we'll leave AG in charge.
me : noooo, she's not going to be in charge.
hubs : look you can decide on anything you want, but i'm leaving her incharge.
me : don't be an ass ....
hubs : so rude!

how this man expected me to give birth in peace with the thought of my 9 year-old holding fort is beyond me.

so what do i do, i sms my child-phobic gay friend to be on standby.

me : i don't mean to scare you, but if i go into labour tonight, can you come over to look after the kids?
DG : eh ok. why do you say you are going into labour tonight?
me : she's hanging real low and i'm mondo uncomfortable. Also i've got contractions ... tho not consistent enuf ... yet.
DG : oh ok ... the kids got school tomorrow?
me : yes, but if i do go into labour, just leave them at home.
DG : but i've got an 8am meeting. need side kick help ... dee? obsidian?
me : lets not panic first ok. we cross our fingers and toes.
DG : ok will standby panic button. phasers set to stun
me : and scotty better be able to beam you here pronto! thanks babes!

now in hindsight, i wonder if hubs was right to want to leave the fort with my 9 year-old and whether i should have engaged the retro meeting-maker still stuck in a time warp. either way, thanks DG for being game : ) i dunno about you, but i slept peacefully.

when will we learn

hubs flew off to china this morning. as a couple, this weekend was just not the best for us. i was (am) PMS-ing so i'm all short-tempered and i wasn't about to keep my mouth shut. so we slashed each other with one-liners, each time eloquently aiming for the jugular but always trying to be amicable-ish. last night it got to a head. and we both went to sleep upset.

this morning, we let out a string of i love yous and hugged. both of us knowing that we really needed to do a quick make-up coz he was leaving. we do this to us all the time. our stupid scorp egos get in the way coz we always need to win arguments so there is never a settlement. it's like those choose your own adventure story books when we were kids. we both start of with the same topic but we both end on different tangents coz we have our own opinions.

now he's in china and i feel upset. friday can't come soon enuf. *pout*

what's in a name, with which we call a rose?

a rose by any other name would smell as sweet : )

hubs sent me roses on monday. 36 roses to be exact, of which 7 were blood red - my favourite - the others were white and pink. believe you me, the bouquet was huge! all i could say was "WAH! how am i going to lug this back to the office without attracting too much attention!"

there was no hiding lah. everybody asked me abt the roses. all in awesome wonder, some let out a high pitched "awwwww", others were lamenting how their partners do not give them flowers anymore. all this while, i was grinning like an idiot.

hubs said that there is cryptic symbolism to the gift - 36 roses coz that's his age. 7 red ones for every year we have been married. means what ... you must be thinking ... means i've brought him the best years of his life.

all together now .... AAAAWWWwwwwwww. love you babes.PS : this is only half of the bouquet ... erm maybe this is a small pic.

7 years etched

happy anniversary babes. you've given me 7 years of all-terrain lovin'. i could have asked for a smoother ride, but where's the fun and adventure in that.

how about this year, we take it down a gear and stop screwing with each other's scorpio heads ... nah :)

ps - so why am i blogging on my anniversary instead of heating up the bedroom? COZ babes is at an over night set-up at the shangri-la. wtf right? sigh.

before sunrise

got tricked into watching a chick flick today. if you know me, i'd rather chew off my elbow than waste time on a chick flick. truth be told i was sucked and suckered into the story. effortless and honest dialogue. so engaging. and of course ethan hawke who i feel does extremely well in indie movies.

the movie brought me back to the time when hubs and i just started our relationship. time was so so precious. we wanted to communicate all the time. we wanted to talk, we wanted to touch, we wanted to linger in silence.

when we met in the evenings, we savoured every moment and we tried our darnest to make every experience special, we made sure of it! we'd hang out till 4 or 5 am and sometimes just crashing from sheer tiredness yet not wanting to let go or say goodbye. sweet sorrow, parting is.

i can really relate to this movie. and i'm glad i watched it.
