The new Adrien.. Danielle Alexis (aka Dani California)

Well the news is out..I so wanted to blog this but alas time has not been on my side..but anyway.. let me introduce our little Dani to you all.

Here she is..

aint she a doll.. ahhh..

so the newly appoint aunt is also the Godma and her hubs (my brother) is the Godfadder! Cool eh..of course the Aunt is calling her Dani California..at first she called her Nemo (since she was due on 4 March, a pisces, a fish do the math)..but then she came out an Aquarian!! The story of her birth was an interesting one..

We went for a normal check-up on the 13/02/2007 afternoon. We waltz into the Doc’s office and casually did the normal checks but found out that the wife’s BP was high. Doc told us to rush to the hospital right away (without even having lunch..NO LUNCH!!..she said grab something on the way over..but noooo..not us, we went to Delifrance and ate our fill before heading over). She wanted to induce the kid out on 14/02/2006 (V-Day). We were not really sure that it was that bad but you know, doc's word. Well we went to the hospital (Mt. Alvernia) and took another BP reading. It was still high so the Doc told us she was going to do the C&Y procedure. C&Y = Cut & Yank, otherwise known as caesarean with epidural. Well everything was a rush and a blur. They wheeled the wife away, and ferried me to another place to change into the gown (yes I got to go in!). I was trying to message everyone I know that we are going to have the baby that night itself! Halfway batt kaput! Nabae!! So everyone got the last message that “we are going to the OT, let you know soon”. Then waited..brought me in, wife was already opened up..as a loving husband, i went to look at the operation before coming back to hold her hand. We had a few laughs in there, and finally when it was time, SHE WAS YANKED OUT!! my goodness, i tot baby was fragile..

then the cleaning came..the Paediatrician Counted all the toes and fingers in front of me (which reminded me like someone showing me a product before it was sold to me) Dani already had her eyes opened up..looking at the world. She did cry when she was yanked, and it was the sweetest, cutest voice ever! At this time point of time, the shock did not set in yet..was still amazed by the procedure! Then they cleaned her up, put her on her mommy, took pictures..then the told me to get out. I felt like I was in the way most of the time, and was side stepping to let ppl get to my wife or kid. I was in the way! I wonder if every other dad felt that as well..when the nurses politely tell you to MOVE! Haha.. anyway, they wheeled the baby out and gave me the option of either waiting for the wife or follow the baby to the nursery. As a good loving husband, once again, I went with the baby. The first look I got sight of Dani, her hair was all curly looking like a Jamaican. Was worried for a bit there..but then when it was dry, she looked Asian alright. Will spare all the other details, but would just like to add that at first it felt like I was watching a telly, like it wasnt happening to me..but when I took her into my arms, that’s when the magic hit. Wow..that was amazing. So precious she is! I don’t know how many times I held back from crying.. but yes..that’s the story.. need some pics to view..below is the link.

The wife and I are very blessed to have so many ppl who shared this journey with us, and that was the magical part. So thank ya sis..for everything! You certainly played a big part and welcome to Auntyhood!!

I just Love Country…

Oh man.. I just so dig this song..(but being a male makes it difficult to sing it out loud la)..

This goes out to all ma’redneck sistas out there..

Redneck Woman by Gretchen Wilson

Well, I ain't never been the Barbie doll type
No, I can't swig that sweet Champagne, I'd rather drink beer all night
In a tavern or in a honky tonk or on a four-wheel drive tailgate
I've got posters on my wall of Skynyrd, Kid and Strait
Some people look down on me, but I don't give a rip
I'll stand barefooted in my own front yard with a baby on my hip

'cause I'm a redneck woman
I ain't no high class broad
I'm just a product of my raising
I say, 'hey ya'll' and 'yee-haw'
And I keep my Christmas lights on
On my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every Charlie Daniels song
So here's to all my sisters out there keeping it country
Let me get a big 'hell yeah' from the redneck girls like me, hell yeah

Victoria's Secret, well their stuff's real nice
But I can buy the same damn thing on a Wal-Mart shelf half price
And still look sexy, just as sexy as those models on TV
I don't need no designer tag to make my man want me
Well, you might think I'm trashy, a little too hardcore
But in my neck of the woods I'm just the girl next door

I'm a redneck woman
I ain't no high class broad
I'm just a product of my raising
I say, 'hey y'all' and 'yee-haw'
And I keep my Christmas lights on
On my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every Tanya Tucker song
So here's to all my sisters out there keeping it country
Let me get a big 'hell yeah' from the redneck girls like me, hell yeah

I think my wife is becoming more Indian

The wife had a dream. One almost worthy of Gaimen himself (only the start I mean)...

It started at a fair cum amusement park where she was working with horses. Staff were wearing military uniforms. they saluted each other and marched from point to point, but she was working with horses and it was amazing. There were other animals as well and rides, like the ones you see in amusement parts. The carousel had real horse etc. In the brilliant blue sky, there were floating cities on clouds. The clouds drifted carrying these cities which were really tall and breathtaking. And people were floating around holding onto balloons (yes the small ones) and the atmosphere was one of fantasy and amazement. She said it seemed just like how it was in Mirror Mask...(the Gaimen movie)

then while she was sitting and admiring the city in the clouds, some guy sat beside here and put an arm around

then the scene changed..

Some village kid ran to her and pulled at her arm to follow him. She could not understand what he was saying..but she followed. The kid brought her to another man..

Then the scene changed…

She was somewhere else, dressed in traditional Chinese wedding clothes, and became shy and demure. She was in a tribal village of sorts (and not understanding a word being said) and was led to a room where a man was waiting..sensing the obvious..she took off her ‘Qua’ (change clothes) she ran away..

Then the scene changed…

She was in shopping centre now..running and running..escaping from the villagers when she saw her brother, who had just came back from an overseas trip and carrying a lot of gifts. Seeing him, she screamed at him for help. Then the people came from all directions chasing them..and so they ran and ran..dropping presents along the way.. I guess they eventually reached a place of sanctuary..with only one present left..

Now please tell me, which part of this does not sound like a Bollywood flick?? Ok the floating cities you will never see, coz Bollywood don’t have much imagination..but the rest.. its so bloody Indian drama right.

Beautiful scenery, everything was nice and rosy (1st type of clothing). Then the matchmaking, (change clothes) but kenna wrong guy trying to be ‘funny’..(changed clothes) then run away and being chased by the village in shopping mall..meet the hero with whom they both escape.. I bet there were some ‘dushoom’ dushoom’ involved as well which she missed tell me..

My wife is becoming more Indian i tell you.. only thing is...dunno if I should be worried or not..hmmmm..

What Matters

Nat, I know I cannot truly understand the sacrifices you and bro go thru until I go thru them myself, but I hope at least my prayers for your family gets answered everyday.

A long time back when I first started working at a young age, I saw something that I will never forget in my life. The sacrifices parents make so that their children are well taken care off. I saw parents skipping lunch (or eating rice with water), wearing torn clothing (hardly buy any new clothing), taking on any overtime that comes their way for extra income (even though they have been working overtime the whole week!!), and then go back home tired as hell but with a smile on their faces to mask whatever hardship they go thru in their lives.

I will never forget that and have a deep and profound respect for parents and for you guys. Not all of us are blessed with wealth, but I know you guys are blessed with something far more beautiful and important.

Love.

There was no greater joy than when u guys asked me to be Godfather to Kay! Suddenly I became a part of a child's live and it warmed me and helped me get rid of alot of unneccessary baggage I was carrying around at that time.. a turning point for me..

All their little actions and things they say, remind me of simple beauties we often miss seeing in our lives or take for granted..

Your children are amazing and I thank God that they have such wonderful parents! I only talk with pride about you guys and I have been blessed to have all of you in my life!! Thank you for sharing your life and struggles, it truly inspires me!

IVan returns

Well it’s been a while since my last time I wrote here. Many things have happened. Been involved with a lot of activities outside of work and finally these days, I am getting some rest. Well what can I talk about.. lets start with the World Cup..

World Cup

I seriously think the players are overpaid and have lost the driving passion for the game. If you saw the match between Ghana and Brazil, you could tell who was playing with their hearts. Its been generally a boring World Cup for me unlike the ones I remember of past years and so I am not going to talk about the games here.

I just want to mention SCV’s bloody coverage (or getting it from the source wherever or whatever they call it..)Where the bloody hell are the pundits.. Come on. Half time must have some fellows talking about the game. Its tradition! Just cannot take that away?? Damn I am so bloody offended!! Further, they claim that they got more channels that show top view, tunnel view, player view and normal view , LC view. Now come on, how much time do you want to spend watching a player..(unless you are mindless teen hoping to watch football becoz some guy is cute or a football coach studying a player) Most of the time you want to watch the actual match. If it’s a repeat, then maybe you might want to switch between the other channels.. but when ‘live’.. u don’t want to miss anything.. and there is only 1 channel needed for that. The traditional “tele-cam”. (The one you are familiar with) Some more the SCV say, got interview with coaches and players what? Normal channels never show all these.... Nabae.. those buggers talking Spanish, French, German etc.. think we understand is it? Some more no sub title also.. just look at their mouth and guess?? LC!!! I feel cheated paying extra money for the PPV channels.. and the worst insult to that injury is watching bloody teams at 3 am playing impassionedly like it’s a friendly!! Give up I tell you! Well..that’s the world cup for me. I hope yours is better if you are watching it..

Mr Brown distorting the truth?

Have you caught the Mr Brown issue which is buzzing over the net? (or local blog circles) Well you can go to his site to read about his article, which he wrote in the Today paper and the reaction from the gahmen coz of it.

"Letter from MICA: Distorting the truth, mr brown?"

Needless to say.. I don’t think I’ve seen over 300 comments for an article (unless you are that MIA Rockson) on his page. So there is overwhelming response in support him and his article. What’s your take? Think the accusations made are justifiable?

And his following podcast is a moving pledge taken by him, a pledge that says whats on every Singaporean mind (or least I think it is, well mine at least). Must check it out ok!

well I will be writing more.. soon..

Top 15 Signs that I am in my 30s

Eating proper meals becomes very important. (no Macs for lunch)

I hate to drop things, coz I have to pick them up by bending. (ouch!)

Kids confirm call you Uncle. Sometimes adults too!!

Confirm never asked to produce IC when buying cigarettes (a few years back still got ok!)

Watch movies on weekdays coz its cheaper.

Everybody ask you when u getting married (if you are not)

Everybody ask you when u having kids (if you are married)

Taxi driver do mental calculation and advise you that if you are married you should be having kids now coz by the time you are 50 your kid might be still in school and u will have to support him/her, which is not very comforting at that age blah blah blah..etc etc..

Comfort comes first for clothing, then fashion sense.

Catch myself saying “Back when I was younger..”

Catch myself saying “What’s this crap they play on the radio these days..back when I was younger.."

Wondering when I can retire and live the good life (not that it will happen in Sg)

Making new friends get harder and harder

No matter how hard I try, cannot suck in my tummy anymore!

You cringe at the thought of bloody school kids have a month long holiday and they hang around got nothing to do saying "sianz" while its hard for you to take one freaking day leave from work at times!! (and also must cook up so many stories to get it too)

These are in no particular order. Feel free to add in your comments on your pains after turning 30.

(if you are in your 30s and have no complaints, then u are not human, please go do a full physical to check what species u are!)

URGENT - Amendment to ATNA's Constitution

I failed to notice a glaring fact that could kill ATNA off before she sees adulthood!!

So I had to amend the ATNA constitution to include a very important point.

"Members do require to perform ONE action when they intend to join ATNA.

Send a bloody comment indicating their interest in joining ATNA"

Aiyoh..if I dont put in this kinda points in the contitution, how will ATNA survive.. members will have to battle with the insane fact of wanting to sign up, but since they have to take an 'Action' in signing up they will be violating their principles of not taking any actions in the first place!

Oh Cruel World..what damned fate..

More Polls?

There is a poll on yahoo singapore which I was curious to see how our internet savvy singaporean bradders and sistas tot about our elections. of course I picked my option also la.. and wow...it seems like 50% of you are disappointed that the oppostion did not win enough..

I guess you guys must be from walk over wards huh.. have to be la.. coz 50% is half and usually halves makes a difference most of the time.. unless you are a 1/4 and facing insecurity issues of never measuring up.. but hey, after seeing it, I had a moment where a spark ignited inside my head! (which started out a forest fire where many neurons were either fried or relocated..some are still unaccounted for and missing..and will appear on the program "Missing"...please help hor..)

anyhoo..my idea..

lets form a new group (not political party la, not finding any trabal here hor)..

its a group for the People by the Internet People..

lets call it..hmm...ahh..yes..

ATNA

which means 'All Talk No Action'

This new group's purpose is to aggressively talk cock but need not take any action.. like "I want to make a difference for my [insert country name]" but actually dont need to do anything la.. or better still quietly join the 7%.. how?? any takers??

ATNA will represent you whenever you want to yap and comprain about things..but dont necessarily want anything done to change things.. so the main purpose of ATNA is to comprain for the sake of compraining.. which will be adopted as the motto in our inauguration celemony ok..

ATNA - "Comprain for the Sake of Compraining"

wow sounds nice huh?? and and hor..

On our 10th anniversay.. our motto can chaged to ..

“ATNA – 10 years of Compraining..Still Bo Action!”

Now we just need a manifesto, a presto and a eureka and we will have a wonderful group for all for ourselves..

how any takers??

Everyone is Beautiful

I often look at faces, be it on the train, passerby, the general public. There are pretty ppl..people who are caught in between.. and those, who some might put below the scale. But if you look long enough (well if that person is ang kong siow, try not to stare la) you can actually see the quality in the difference. The structure, the lines, the folds..everything on the face makes a unique contribution which makes one different from the other.

I often question of society's assessment and importance placed on beauty. More doors are opened for attractive ppl i presume. Personally, I always got attracted to the person inside and well that was good enough for me. I am sure the hordes of males flipping thru "Sports illustrated" or other, lets say "interesting" mags will say "speak for yourself".. but yes..I am speaking for myself... and I think there are more who believe in this and never speak out. We oftentimes believe in what we read too easily.

And thats what this election taught me man! haha..

Larger than Life

Sometimes I sit wondering.. until I either get an aneurysm or come to a conclusion on something.

One conclusion that came to me one fine day was, you can advise someone till your mouth bleeds, but unless you are larger than life, some people will not listen to their fellow humble, living their normal lives human beings.

let me explain..

ask yourself..

If a friend gave you an advise, and if Anthony Robbins gave you the same advise, who's advise you would take right away and act on it? My guess exactly. Your friend could be right, but we look for people who are larger than us (not size) more accomplished than us, even from another country..everything to set this person apart from us. Coz if he or she was near, they wouldnt be any more special than you, coz they are facing the same things as you right.. no they wont be the best authority on advise giving.. no siree.. You want to advise me, make sure you have degrees and masters up your arse, couple of jets, a few houses around the world, and make sure you are giving advise to world leader while you are at it.. then come to me.

I do notice this mentality (well not to this extend la) in ppl close to me at times, and it can get annoying, coz you tell them to try something this way, and they dont buy your words, and then next moment, they see it on Opera and tell themselves "I should try it this way then!" !!!????OO???!!!

Sometimes we fail to see whats around and look up to the clouds for signs.. well the signs are around you.. if you listen, you will hear them..and sometimes, those voices are as average as you and me..listen

well that was one conclusion that came to me before an aneurysm did..thank God..

i get to live and fight another day of bloggin..

yum seng!

what's up with cabbies?

there are nice ones. Ones that say Hi (I presume in many languages, coz they have this some insane and remote idea that service matters..those stupid fools!! haha) and talk to you casually asking about your day, and have a nice chat about things in general and give you a nice feeling.

But some of the uncle uncle ones.. aiyoh.. if they hate their lives, they have the power to do something about it what.. comeon la.. dont take it out on the passenger.. like I got nothing else to do than to take your BS..

one guy..drove fast..nevermind.. he flew over all the freaking humps like he was in extreme motorcross competition...one had a smoke and didnt think other would smell it..nevermind..another, complain about his life and problems.. HELLOO!!! YOU THINK I GOT NO PROBLEMS HUH??? @#&#*@%!!! Just got in..sit down..tell where to go..wah..start liao.. the full bio come out... wife this, children that..Another, Cannot cut here and cannot stop there...bloody hell.. I didnt know he was the taxi driver's version of a prefect.. ok...nevermind he following law strictly... another, just becoz some other punk cut into his lane, he not happy...speed up and overtake the punk and JAM BREAK!!! #$#^%!!! Passenger life not important is it.. and he was like 70 yrs old..still terror..another, talk bad about my race.. WHILE I WAS IN THE FREAKING CAB!!! You think..just laugh laugh..can talk bad about others is it?? If this was columbia or someplace nice, I would have done something about it...with lead..

so when it came to another who complained why I didnt tell him that a certain part of the road near my place was a one way..and he drove thru it and kept on harping on it..i bloody lost it..

I said what was on my mind..how I felt about his comments, his inability to read road signs and how many swear words I can manage in a minute.. and all in malay (a language I am not too familiar with!).. wow..it was a moment I tell ya..

"Calm down la.. small matter.. jagan marah la.."...

some days, we just had enough of the BS we get.. we the nice ppl tolerate.. but bloody hell..enough is enough..

*deep breath.....

ok..feeling better now..

so how is your Sunday?
