Shoes That Fit

if the shoe fits ... come back for more!

the name game

naming a girl is really not as easy as naming a boy. i remember, AG was nameless for a good 2 months before we decided on her name. she was the first so we needed to set the right ring to it. can't be too bimbo, nothing too common. needs to be a strong name but feminine and soft enuf. yes, choosing a girls name is a hormonal journey on its own.

with the boys. it was as tho we had their names in our back pockets all the time. it was so simple!

but are we panicking ... nooooo. we'll just have to look at her face and hopefully it will come to us. hopefully.

what ... what did you say? you want to help? sure thing, here are the criterion?
1) 2 syllables
2) english or celtic first names
3) androgynous if possible
4) saint-ish second name
5) preferably starting with an I or M (coz i already have a J, K and L)

good luck!

ok here goes - me sticking to the names of celtic origin only, and for the 2nd saintly bit, u are mostly on ur own.. :

1. Idelle - means bountiful
2. Isolde - means fair one
3. Magael - (strangely, no meaning given!)
4. Marella - shining sea
5. Maren - from the god mars; from the sea (it IS a celtic name!!!)
6. McKayla - feminine form of Michael (this could possible work out as McKayla Michelle - Michelle apparently means "who resembles God", female version of Michael).

Last one is my personal fav. However, I do acknowledge the pronunciation challenges this would present. :D

Alt - you can try inject a little local flavour, like: Merockleigh!

you don't take instuctions very well huh. the only thing your selective reading picked up is celtic.

remember we live in singapore, the name needs to withstand the nurse who shouts out your name from the counter without having to embaress the child.

No I don't... it's called selective reading... hee... :D

How's about Mavis then? It's Celtic, though not that androgynous... but it's easy to pronounce, and should withstand the varying levels of punishment the local tongue may put on it.

i knew a mavis ... not someone i want to remember fondly.

thats the other thing w names, it's got to be someone you can tolerate in memory or want to honour in the present. and between hubs and me, we know too many bastards in this world that more or less have us ruling out many names. sigh.

it looks like the typo police is doing his rounds : )

i personally don't like girlie names and well, bu has an androgynous name so i figured the last one should too. or maybe i should be more specific .... girl names that i can shorten to become boy names.

like erica (eric) or maxine (max)
